Why do people want big houses, expensive cars and popular clothes? What purpose do they serve? Artists don’t care about those things because they love practicing their art. Their art affects the way they think while causing them TO THINK. It influences the way they act and the way they perceive the world and everything in it. Now, think about how many material items there are that can have a similar impact. TV flaunts the things that ultimately become trends that people sacrifice originality for. Pink Floyd isn’t loved for the same reason lil Wayne is. They didn’t win people’s hearts by singing about popular topics like money, cars, clothes, sex, love etc.They challenged people to think about why they want the things they spend their lives chasing. Once you buy a big house, you’re going to buy nice THINGS to put in every room of the house. This will prevent many of the rooms from being used. Chances are you won’t be comfortable in the house because you’re to concerned with all the THINGS you diluted it with. The expensive car is just eye candy you pay for every month. It serves the same purpose as the Pinto that was your first car. Popular clothes don’t reflect who you really are; they reflect how you’re trying to project yourself for people to see. These THINGS only attract people who define people by their things. Chasing after THINGS is what keeps people away from developing skills, ideals, and personality. Spending your life doing this only makes you like every other clone who buys what tv tells them to. You have a better shot at finding out what you love if you’re not too occupied with trends. You’ll learn how to do more things if you’re not consumed with your things. Be alone. Take time and think about how you truly feel about everything. If you do this, you won’t think like everyone else because you won’t allow your peers and propaganda to make a product out of you….
